Guided food tour at Kallio
The former working-class neighborhood is today known as a trendy residential area for artists and students. Despite the extortionate housing prices Kallio is the most densely populated urban area in Finland. The area is tightly woven with blocks that offer a wide range of cafés, restaurants, bars and various shops. Additionally, the area is famous for its numerous antique shops, eccentric shops that sell bits and bobs and massage parlors that add to the personality of the landscape. Kallio is genuine, honest and rugged.
Visit to Teurastamo
The former Helsinki abattoir from 1933, re-opened in 2012 as Teurastamo Helsinki, is a melting pot of food and urban culture. Currently there are a dozen active businesses operating in the Teurastamo area, ranging from restaurants to urban events, from a distillery to a coffee roastery and from a nightclub to a small beverage factory. Together, these businesses form Teurastamo, but the area also serves as the shared living room and backyard of the residents of Helsinki, open all year round and featuring a yard with a grill and a rental sauna.
Visit to The Helsinki Distilling Company
Tislaamo – Distillery Bar, the cocktail bar and restaurant of The Helsinki Distilling Company, serves smooth drinks made from spirits distilled in-house as well as European bistro food.
The historic two-story building, which used to be a power plant, is also a home for The Helsinki Distilling Companys visitor center with tours and tastings.
Enjoy a delicious dinner at The Restaurant Wellamo
Restaurant Wellamo brings unforgettable flavors to the table, respecting the variety of the Finnish seasons. Modern and innovative food, using only Finnish/Nordic ingredients and small producers together creates menus of Wellamo.
Local, organic, wild and seasonal products and producers are the basis of the food in Wellamo. Everything that is in a natural growth season, is in a use of Wellamo’s kitchen and menu. The menu is based on plant-based with vegetables and root vegetables of the season, filled with high quality proteins including meat/poultry/game, fish/seafood and vegetable proteins.

The Finnish sauna culture is enjoying a revival in Helsinki. The impressive Löyly design sauna opened in spring 2016 on the southern tip of the Helsinki peninsula. In addition to a smoke sauna, traditional sauna and private sauna for groups, visitors will be able to enjoy Finnish food culture while admiring the stunning views from the large terrace that stretches out over the sea.

Visit to Helsinki Art Museum – HAM. Exhibition: Tove Jansson – Paradise
Tove Jansson is one of the best and loved Finnish artists of all time and the most widely read Finnish author in the world. She was a multitalented artist who is mostly remembered as a creator of the Moomins. In addition to the Moomin books and comics she is well known for her short stories and novels. HAM’s major exhibition takes an in-depth look at Tove Jansson’s public paintings, through which she shared joy, beauty and windows into magical worlds of storytelling. Filling half of HAM’s exhibition space on two floors, it presents over 180 artworks and other exhibits, along with a notable collection of previously unexhibited sketches.

Experience the new Solo Sokos Hotel Pier 4
The new Solo Sokos Hotel Pier 4 aims to be the most sustainable hotel in Finland in terms of everything from the building itself to the hotel’s functions and services. The hotel is in Katajanokan Laituri building, designed by Anttinen Oiva Architects, which is an impressive new solid wood building on Helsinki’s shoreline that complements the city’s signature skyline right next to the Market Square. The hotel has 164 rooms, 43 of which afford unobstructed views to the sea. The hotel also has conference facilities, a seaside café and a rooftop terrace with views over the Market Square and South Harbour. The hotel restaurant Harbore is led by Sauli Kemppainen, a Finnish chef with passion for simplicity and pure taste. He has previously been awarded a Michelin star.
